Sister Wives

Sister Wives – This Could End Sister Wives

As “Sister Wives” gets ready to roll out its 19th season, have you ever wondered when will this show end? Will it get canceled? Will the family tie a bow on the series and walk away from reality TV life? Will the show evolve into spin-offs? What will the conclusion to this series as we know it look like?

Another long-running TLC show called “Little People Big World” just possibly ended its final season, and the patriarch of that show, Matt Roloff, spilled some tea after revealing that he is no longer bound by a network NDA. I want to discuss some of what he had to say about the end of his show because that could be a predictor of the end of “Sister Wives”, so Cody had better pay attention if he doesn’t want to lose his cash cow. We have a lot to talk about, let’s get into today’s [Music] video.

Hey everyone, what’s up, it’s Sarah, and welcome back to my channel. “Little People Big World” just wrapped its 25th season, that is insane. I never really followed the show, so I apologize if I get any details about the family wrong, but I feel a little embarrassed because I hadn’t realized that this show had been on the air longer, quite a bit longer than “Sister Wives”. I know that a lot of you do follow the Roloff family, so you’re probably screaming at your screens right now with me riring my ignorance.

The biggest scandal, if you will, that I recall hearing about with the Roloffs is that one of the kids was assaulted by a production staff member while filming the show. I actually discussed that when I made a video some time ago about TLC having a predator problem at their network, which sadly seems to remain an accurate descriptor given some of the network’s recent casting choices for some of its other reality shows.

So, season 25 of “Little People Big World” just wrapped, and I saw on YouTube even before the finale aired on my recommended page that Zach Roloff, who’s one of the kids along with his wife Tori, announced that they would no longer be participating in the show. Season 25 ended with a season finale, not a series finale, but I guess viewers, along with some of the casts themselves, are thinking that this was the end of the show. I was reading this article that People magazine put out the other day, and it led me to Matt Roloff’s Facebook where he answered all of these questions that he had been getting, and he said that he could talk much more openly now that he was no longer bound by an NDA. It’s like, wow, this season ends and the NDA goes poof.

The one question in particular that I wanted to touch on was this one, and I’m choosing excerpts from his answer. If you want to read the entire post and the answer to this question, I will link the entire thread in the description of this video. So, the first question that he answered was this: “Was last Tuesday’s episode the season or series finale?” And Matt answers it as follows:

“It’s true that several family members have announced publicly that they are no longer interested in filming ‘Little People Big World’. I think Amy, myself, and producers have known this for quite some time. We completed our contract obligations and wrapped filming last September 2023. Season 25 was a very fun and fulfilling filming cycle, and Karen and I particularly enjoyed working together with Chris and Amy in so many productive ways. Of course, we missed filming more with the other family members and were obviously disappointed not to do more things altogether. Here is my opinion on why TLC didn’t announce, at least not yet, that this was the series finale versus season finale.”

He goes on to explain how the family ended up signing on to more specials, and obviously, the show continued on for another decade and a half. And then the excerpt of his answer continues:

“This is why I think there is some hesitation to announce from TLC that the show is over, even though the family as a whole is enjoying being away from it all after 19 to 20 years. Karen and many other family members have publicly stated they are done with filming. Remember, our show is a relationship-based program. As more and more family members drift away from the show, it becomes more difficult to produce the same content. As much as many of you hate and we see the comments about the rifts and stripes between the family members, the better the ratings do. Nobody, they think they do, but they don’t want to watch everything is always happy-go-lucky and perfect. Viewers want relationship drama and then resolutions. The less relationship interactions are filmed together on camera, the harder it is to produce the show. Chris and Karen coming on board helped replace some family members.”

So, on this matter of whether last Tuesday was the last “Little People Big World” show forever, nobody really knows at this point. I feel very content and satisfied with the run of shows and the journey we shared with you all. The ratings continue to build and stand strong and consistent. We are super proud of that. More importantly than our ratings, I was at a public outdoor concert last night, and the love I felt from so many fans was truly amazing. I took many dozens of selfies with heartfelt fans, so many stories of lives touched by “Little People Big World”, so many thank yous for sharing our story.

So, maybe “Little People Big World” is canceled, maybe not. I guess we will see if it comes back for a season 26. What is interesting to me is reading about Matt Roloff acknowledging that most of his family members just don’t want anything to do with the show anymore, and for that reason, there just may not be anything left to film. This really got me thinking about the Brown family.
