Bold and Beautiful

Taylor Swift — Yes, *That* Taylor Swift — Has Something To Say About This Week’s Bold & Beautiful

“Your faithless love’s the only hoax I believe in.”

Steffy Liam B&B

Given that Steffy seems poised to fall for Liam’s latest line of crap hook, line and sinker, this line from T-Swift’s tune “Hoax” seems wildly appropriate. I mean, how many times is this guy going to swear to one of his women that if only they’d give him another chance, he’ll never, ever hurt them again. Who does he think he is? Ridge?

“Sorry, I can’t see facts through all my fury”

Finn Liam B&B

Finn, we get that Liam is an annoying — checks notes to see what you called him — “little puke.”  (And kudos to Tanner Novlan for apparently ad-libbing Finn’s insult and, in the process, driving the internet bonkers with their approval.) And that makes you angrier than a caveman whose cave lady has discovered he’s not the only one with a magical flint. But as Swift’s lyric from “Happiness” indicates, the fact you’re unable to see is that your inexplicable draw to Sheila gave Liam all the ammunition he needed… and that’s the fact!

“Breakups happen every day, you don’t have to lose it”

B&B Liam hope skeptical

Hope clearly listened to “Right Where You Left Me,” the bonus track from Swift’s Evermore album, ’cause she was cool as a cucumber when discussing the end of her marriage to Liam. Brooke seemed to want a bigger, more emotional reaction from her daughter, but it definitely wasn’t happening.

“I could build a castle out of all the bricks they threw at me”

Being a doctor, Finn probably understands what Ms. Swift was singing about in the tune “New Romantics”: Sticks and stones may break his bones, but names will never harm him. Which is probably good, because… well, he was being trash-talked a lot this week. Perhaps my favorite moment? When Ridge asked Liam, “Am I the only one who thought Finn was smart?”

“I think I’ve seen this film before, and I didn’t like the ending”

If Steffy even thinks about going back to Liam — and to be clear, she is definitely thinking about it — she needs to cue up Swift’s “Exile” from the Folklore album and then reflect on how many times this dunderhead has hurt not only her but Hope and others. In fact, while she’s listening to the song, she can flip through our gallery of the many, many boneheaded things Liam has done over the years. Run, girl, while you still can.

“‘Cause you got her on your arms and me in the wings; I’ll get your longing glances, but she’ll get your ring”

Pretty sure that particular lyric from the tune “Foolish One” needs absolutely no explanation. Over the years, whichever woman Liam wasn’t with was probably playing it on a loop.

“You said it was a great love, one for the ages. But if the story’s over, why am I still writing pages?”

Thomas Hope B&B

For endless weeks, we were teased with Thomas and Hope. Some people were excited by them, others repulsed. No matter how you felt about it, however, it was the story… and if you didn’t like it, the whole thing probably felt like the title to Swift’s “Death By a Thousand Cuts.” But once they steamed things in Rome, the show immediately threw cold water on their hottest story by moving them directly to the backburner. That’s just bad storytelling, period.

“The road not taken looks real good now”

Li Finn B&B

Finn told his mom and anyone else who’d listen that Steffy was “the best thing that ever happened to me.” And to the best of our knowledge, that’s definitely true… if only because even after all this time, we know nothing about the dude’s past. It would be swell if the show’s writers borrowed a thought from Swift’s “‘Tis The Damned Season” and realized this is a great opportunity to finally give Finn a backstory.
