With Jason Morgan Steve Burton, it’s been proposed time and time again that Dex’s family is a hush topic because he’s actually got ties to the town he doesn’t want anyone to know about.
Could it be that he agreed to Michael Corinthos’ duo take-down of Sonny Corinthos two years ago because he wanted to infiltrate the organization that killed his father from the inside out? If so, what is that going to mean for Dex when Jason comes home alive? When Dex first came to Port Charles, he was a man for hire. Michael found him through whatever channels powerful men like Michael find no-name dudes to do their bidding. Dex was eager to help him dismantle the mob organization in Port Charles and put Sonny away forever. Along the way, both Michael and Dex grew softer towards Sonny, and they called the whole thing off. Dex came to like the work he was doing and the money Sonny was giving him, and he stayed on as his number one enforcer.
More recently, Sonny has been keen on leaning on Dex and giving him more responsibility in the organization. It’s clear that he’s setting him up to be the next Stone Cold. He wants to see what Dex is made of and if he has what it takes to take every order without question and without screwing it up. Dex proved to him that he was willing to go all the way with killing Cyrus Renault. Recently, though, that didn’t have to come to fruition in the end, but the fact that he was ready to do it spoke volumes to the dawn. He’s been here before, nearly 30 years ago with Jason, and he’s ready to groom Dex to take his place in the mob.
We still don’t know why Jason has been gone for the last 2 years if he never really died. Soon, we’ll find out the truth about that and a whole lot more. Could it be learning about his son that leads Jason back to Port Charles? If so, will he be there to get to know Dex, or is he going to ride to Sonny’s rescue after growing concerned that Dex is out for blood? Jason could come home with every intention of replacing Dex in the organization just to keep his boy out of it. There are multiple layers to this storyline we have to peel back over time.
